Hi Irish Trad Fans,
For years I have been told that Eddie Clarke was to the Irish Chromatic
Harmonica what Sean Maguire was to the Irish Fiddle. I have tried in vain to
get him on record as
unfortunately his two known commercial albums had proved to be "unobtainium"
However I heard on Radio na Gaeltachta this morning that person or persons
unknown have put together a collection of recordings of Eddie Clarke and
issued a 4CD collection under the title of "The Unheard Eddie Clarke". I
can't wait to get my hands on a set. If information about publishers etc.
becomes available I shall let the 'Faithful' know.
For those who have never heard of him Eddie Clarkes technique was apparently
to play a C chromatic with the slide permanently in, but released at the
appropriate time to produce accordeon and fiddle type rolls and triplets.
